G&G Industries, Inc., located in Runnels County, Texas, is offering a six-month Department of Defense SkillBridge internship designed for transitioning service members interested in careers in commercial agriculture and heavy equipment operations. This hands-on training program provides experience in dryland farming operations focused on the production of sorghum, wheat, and cotton.Participants will work alongside experienced farm operators to learn field preparation, planting, crop monitoring, chemical application, and harvest operations. Training also includes operation and preventative maintenance of agricultural equipment such as tractors, sprayers, combines, cotton strippers, boll buggies, and related machinery.This opportunity is ideal for service members with mechanical aptitude who enjoy hands-on outdoor work and are interested in careers in agriculture, equipment operation, or diesel equipment maintenance. Structured mentorship and on-the-job training will be provided throughout the program.

Roles & job description

Key Duties and Training Activities-Assist with field preparation, planting, and harvesting operations for sorghum, wheat, and cotton-Operate agricultural equipment, including tractors, sprayers, planters, combines, cotton strippers, boll buggies, grain carts, and trailers-Conduct routine preventative maintenance on farm equipment including lubrication, filter replacement, and inspection procedures-Support mechanical troubleshooting and basic repairs involving diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components-Assist with crop monitoring activities such as stand counts, weed and pest scouting, and crop health observation-Participate in safe handling and application of agricultural chemicals in accordance with safety and environmental regulations-Maintain equipment cleanliness and assist with seasonal equipment storage and preparation-Follow workplace safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipmentQualifications-Active duty service member eligible for participation in the DoD SkillBridge program-Interest in agriculture, heavy equipment operations, or diesel equipment maintenance-Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn hands-on technical skills-Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions-Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work as part of a teamWork Environment-Outdoor agricultural work setting in rural Texas-Hands-on equipment operation and mechanical work-Seasonal schedules that may include extended hours during planting and harvest periodsTraining OutcomesParticipants completing this program will gain practical skills in agricultural equipment operation, dryland crop production, and preventative equipment maintenance, preparing them for potential careers in farm operations, agricultural equipment operation, and diesel equipment service.
