Tactical Section is a collective of selected complex problem solvers forged through diverse experience, sustained by a culture of creativity, mutual support and shared success, purpose driven to win.Tactical Section’s mission is to save lives by solving the most complex, asymmetrical, unpredictable, and dangerous law enforcement problems in a time-compressed environment. Tactical Section achieves this mission by prioritizing hostage rescue, crisis response, POTUS-driven directives, and integrated deterrence of over-the-horizon threats through national program management.Tactical Section manages, trains, equips, and partners with all 56 FBI SWAT teams, made up of approximately 1,200 SWAT agents, over 400 crisis negotiators, and 750 operational medics in the field. Organic to the Tactical Section compound in Quantico are 10 units, made up of about 200 people. The Hostage Rescue Team is made up of five units, Gold, Blue, Silver, Gray, and the Tactical Helicopter Unit. Additionally, there is the National Tactical Training Unit, National Tactical Operations Unit, National Operational Medical Unit, Operational Support Unit, and the Crisis Negotiations Unit.

Serves as a Crisis Management Specialist (CMS) at the FBI possessing mastery knowledge in the crisis management process of planning, identifying, acquiring, and deploying resources needed to anticipate, prevent and/or resolve a crisis. Assists in the development and coordination of projects that further the overall goals and objects of the Crisis Management Team. Within a designated organization, provide guidance and recommendations to senior managers on local plans, policies, and doctrine, and how they relate to crisis management mission; Interpret generalized guidance into specific, deliberate plans relevant to crisis operations. Design (or provide advice regarding) complex training exercises by following a multi-step process that includes assessing training needs, establishing goals and objectives, composing realistic narratives, detailing events, preparing written injects, and listing the expected player action. Prepares and presents oral briefings and written reports on the conclusions and recommendations drawn from the data, as well as the unique problems encountered obtaining the data from various sources. Determines the best format to present data to customers and management, such as graphs, tables, charts, and/or other summary reports. Receives, analyzes, and disseminates information pertaining to potential and actual national and international security situations. Initiates appropriate actions and carries out procedures to ensure timely and effective responses. Updates official records of activities based on information received/disseminated by the staff. Maintains a high state of operational readiness as the focal point for the collection and dissemination of intelligence information relating to incidents that require coordination with FBIHQ and other federal agencies. Assists in the coordination of the crisis management response by providing technical advice as to the roles of each component in a command post. Facilitates command post operations and assists in command post training by providing guidance on information flow, component responsibilities and command post structure. Supports training for FBI and other Federal, state, and local law enforcement personnel regarding critical incidents and major investigations. Assists field offices with the development of operational plans for exercises and/or operational activities. Assists in the organization of training exercises by identifying goals and objectives and the processes needed to ensure that the exercise achieves these goals and objectives. Participates in After Action meetings and prepares reports to identify areas of crisis management theory and practice that needs improvement or change. Provides guidance concerning the strengths and weaknesses in preparedness of FBI's response during a training exercise, critical incident, and/or operational deployment. Effectively express ideas orally, and persuasively advise and guide executives and management officials on program directives; make presentations, and address problem areas to offer solutions. Writing skills sufficient to prepare memoranda, reports and other documentation are required. Provides guidance and recommendations to senior managers on plans, policies, and doctrine, and how they relate to the crisis management mission within their organization. Interprets generalized guidance into specific deliberate plans. Represents the FBI in formal interagency committees, conferences, task forces and work groups. Maintains frequent contact with the entities to facilitate program initiatives. Engages in operational deployments, both domestically and internationally, to assist in crisis management planning/command post facilitation. Deploy on short notice to a variety of locations to lend expertise on crisis management and command post structure. Performs other related duties as directed.

Open to all MOS / ratings / AFSCs.

Must possess a current Top Secret clearance. Must meet the FBI's minimum eligibility requirements. Must be a US Citizen and have no criminal record. Must adhere to the FBI Drug Policy.
