In this V2W Job Training Program with Ecco Adesso Vineyards (EA), LLC, you will:• Cultivate vineyards for winemaking.• Build experience in the processes and methods of crushing and pressing grapes.• Monitor the settling of juice and the fermentation of grape material.• Coordinate and experience the process of wine making, grape quality, and cellar management.• Conduct wine tastings and food pairing.• Learn about breeding and evaluating new varieties of grapes.• Experience the business aspects of end-to-end “vine to wine” and “farm to table” winemaking.• Participate in Trade Sales, Wine Club Sales, and Event Sales.• Learn about unique grants and other opportunities for wine growers and producers.This position includes a contingent job offer with salary information to the Service member contingent upon successful completion of the DOD SkillBridge program.Through this program, EA is seeking one (1) participant for an excellent opportunity for making and selling high quality wine, preparing individuals to perform specific tasks by providing information about the task; demonstrations of how the tasks are performed; opportunities for the individuals to perform the tasks; and assessments of everyone’s level of performance. Ecco Adesso Vineyards offers a safe workplace and learning experience that assists participants to prepare for employment by observing and performing, within the employer’s operating environment, the work activities performed by members of the employer’s workforce.
This position works directly with our Vineyard Manager, with mentorship opportunities with our vignerons, sommeliers, vintners, viticulturists, enologists, sales team, and farm engineers, learning to facilitate daily harvest and winemaking duties. Interns will work with members of the cellar and lab to achieve daily milestones. Paired with the employer’s workforce, our interns will learn how to cultivate vineyards for winemaking; crush and press grapes; monitor the settling of juice and the fermentation of grape material; analyze grape quality; coordinate process of wine making; pair wine; manage vineyard and winery operations; conduct wine tastings; breed and evaluate new varieties of grapes, and participate in trade, wine club, and event sales.Minimum Qualifications:• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and adhere to strict safety procedures.• Interested in a career in Enology and/or Viticulture or related field.• Excellent organizational and communication skills – oral and written.• Technically capable (especially MS Office applications).• Punctual, responsible, and motivated. • Candidates must be eligible to work in the US. • Must be at least 21 years of age.Preferred Qualifications:• Previous harvest experience in winery and/or farm culture.• Previous culinary, brewery, food, or farm production experience. • Previous winemaking and cellar experience preferred. Previous forklift experience preferred.• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.• Solid knowledge and interest of plant care and maintenance related to grapevines.• Possess a knowledge and passion for wine.• Well-developed wine tasting skills.• Familiar with Vintrace® or equivalent Cloud software for winemakers.Physical Activity/Requirements. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical activity may include planting vines and other plants using hand tools and farm machines; building trellises for climbing vines; operating farm machines to cultivate, fertilize, spray and harvest grapes; spraying vines and other plants with chemicals to control weed growth, insects, fungus growth and diseases; pruning vines; irrigating land for crop growth; selecting and picking grapes according to size and ripeness; discarding rotting and over-ripened produce; grading, sorting, bunching and packing produce into containers; and loading filled grape containers onto trucks.
