Program summary

School of Grit is seeking a full-time SkillBridge intern to support the company’s social media marketing, short-form content strategy, and digital brand growth. This role is designed for a transitioning service member who is interested in social media, digital marketing, content creation, entrepreneurship, and online business development.School of Grit helps service members, veterans, and their families turn military discipline, leadership, and lived experience into ownership opportunities. Through education, community, mentorship, and practical training, School of Grit supports military-connected individuals as they build confidence, explore entrepreneurship, develop personal brands, invest in their futures, and create a plan for life beyond the military.The Social Media Marketing SkillBridge Intern will work behind the scenes to help School of Grit create, edit, schedule, and analyze content across multiple social media platforms. The primary emphasis will be short-form video content for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, and other emerging platforms. The intern will also support written content and repurposing efforts for platforms such as Substack and LinkedIn.This opportunity may be completed remotely or in person in Columbus, Ohio. If the SkillBridge internship is successful, it may create future opportunities with School of Grit after military separation or retirement, based on performance, business needs, and organizational growth.

Roles & job description

The Social Media Marketing SkillBridge Intern will support School of Grit’s marketing and brand-growth efforts by helping develop and execute a social media strategy focused on reaching service members, veterans, military spouses, and aspiring entrepreneurs.Primary responsibilities may include:Creating, editing, and posting short-form video content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube Shorts.Reviewing long-form content, calls, trainings, interviews, and other brand assets to identify strong clips for social media.Editing video clips for clarity, engagement, captions, pacing, hooks, and platform-specific best practices.Writing captions, post copy, headlines, calls to action, and other social media content.Supporting social media campaigns designed to promote School of Grit products, programs, and community offerings.Developing and maintaining a social media content calendar.Researching current social media trends, platform updates, marketing strategies, and content best practices.Studying available marketing resources, books, training materials, and communities to improve content strategy and execution.Using tools such as Canva, CapCut, GoHighLevel, Meta Business Suite, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google Drive, Notion, and AI-based tools to support content creation and workflow efficiency.Repurposing content across multiple platforms while adapting messaging for each platform’s audience and format.Tracking basic performance metrics such as reach, engagement, views, saves, shares, comments, click-throughs, and lead generation.Assisting with community engagement, including comments, direct messages, and audience interaction, as appropriate.Supporting marketing funnels connected to social media campaigns, including calls to action, lead capture, email follow-up, and product promotion.Helping School of Grit test, refine, and improve its social media strategy over time.This is primarily a behind-the-scenes role. The intern is not required to be on camera. The focus is on content editing, strategy, posting, research, marketing support, and platform growth.

Eligibility notes

Ideal candidates should have:Interest in social media marketing, content creation, entrepreneurship, online business, or brand growth.Familiarity with at least a few major social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, or YouTube.Willingness to learn new tools, platforms, marketing strategies, and AI-supported workflows.Strong written communication skills.Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment.Attention to detail when editing, posting, scheduling, and reviewing content.Creativity and willingness to test new ideas.Professional judgment when representing a brand online.Ability to receive feedback and revise content accordingly.Interest in serving the military and veteran community through School of Grit’s mission.
