Management & Program Analyst SkillBridge Training Plan

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program provides transitioning service member with an opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience while preparing for their transition from military service. Through structured, hands-on internships, participants can apply their military experience and transferable skills while developing new competencies in a professional federal work environment. SkillBridge opportunities may be available across various IRS business units and career fields, including information technology, cybersecurity, criminal investigation, facilities management, communications, human resources, finance, data and analytics, administrative operations, and other mission-support functions. Participants receive a structured training plan designed to provide meaningful work experience, professional development, mentorship, and exposure to federal career opportunities. Participation in SkillBridge does not guarantee employment with the IRS; however, the experience can help service members strengthen their federal resume, expand their professional network, and better understand career opportunities within the federal government. The IRS Veterans Program Office works with participating business units, Veteran Employment Coordinators, hiring managers, and transitioning service members to help identify opportunities that align military experience, skills, education, and career interests with the needs of the IRS.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is seeking transitioning service members interested in gaining hands-on experience as a Management Analyst through the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program. This internship provides participants with an opportunity to apply their military leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a professional federal work environment while developing experience that can support their transition into a civilian career. Management Analysts support IRS organizations by reviewing programs processes, and operations; analyzing information; identifying opportunities for improvement; and assisting leadership with initiatives designed to improve organizational effectiveness. Key Duties and Responsibilities- Assisting with the review and evaluation of organizational programs, policies, procedures, and business processes.- Collecting, organizing, and analyzing program and operational data.- Identifying trends, challenges, and opportunities for process improvement.- Assisting with the development of reports, briefings, presentations, spreadsheets, and other management products.- Supporting project and program management activities, including tracking milestones, deliverables, and performance measures.- Conducting research and assisting with recommendations to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness.- Collaborating with managers, employees, and stakeholders across different functional areas.- Supporting meetings, working groups, special projects, and organizational initiatives.- Developing professional written communication, correspondence, and analytical products.- Gaining exposure to federal policies, administrative processes, and IRS operations. Participants will work under the guidance of experienced IRS professionals and follow a structured training plan designed to build competencies applicable to Management and Program Analyst career fields.
