Enforcement Removal Assistant - Internship Program

Program summary

This is a trainee level position that is located in various Enforcement and Removal Operation field offices or facilities. The primary purpose of this position is to provide clerical and administrative support to the Enforcement and Removal Program. The duties require the incumbent to have access to classified files, materials that consist of enforcement of laws and regulations pertaining to detention and removal of aliens.

Roles & job description

Under the guidance of a supervisor or higher-graded employee, the incumbent performs routine and recurring processing functions related to the admission and release of detainees, such as booking, strip and baggage searching, and similar basic processing functions under normal working conditions in the detention facility. Interns will participate in the routine and basic counseling process under the guidance and direct supervision of higher-grade personnel. Provides routine information on specific and clearly defined questions and issues regarding enforcement and deportation policies, practices, and procedures. Defers to senior officers for more complicated issues, questions, and situations. Performs file searches and assembles documentation in accordance with specific instructions.
