DoW SkillBridge Internship OpportunityManagement and Program AnalystSpecial Projects Coordinator (GS-12/13)U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)Office of Human Resources Management (HRM)LOCATIONWashington, D.C. IMPORTANT NOTEThis opportunity is OUTSIDE of USAJOBS and ONLY open to DoW SkillBridge candidates who are AT LEAST 11 months AWAY from military separation to be considered and who can intern with CBP during their final 180, 120, or 90 days on active-duty.WHY 11 MONTHS?CBP can host SkillBridge interns for their final 180, 120, and/or 90 days on active-duty depending on the individual service-member’s situation. We use the time prior to their finite internship dates to complete our required HR processes that also include a 3 to 5 month (on average) full CBP Background Investigation (BI) that MUST be completed prior to internship start dates.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThis position is responsible for providing technical assistance and direct support to management staff (Senior Advisor, Program Manager, Deputy Director, and Division Director) in matters relating to component planning, requirements, and management programs to meet mission requirements. Advises and provides analytical support on problem definition, planning methodologies, policies, and procedures. Responsible for assisting in the evaluation of the content of new or modified policy or legislation for projected impact on DHS and CBP programs. Participates in developing, implementing, and monitoring goals and metrics for long and short-term range component plans, as well as goals, objectives and priorities established by statute, executive order, or by DHS policy or guidance. Helps to plan and organize team study or work and persuade or negotiate effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations that may involve substantial component resources, changes in established procedures, or conflicts with existing activities. Participates in the planning, development, and coordination of briefings, presentations, and conferences for executive management. Ensures that accurate, appropriately concise, and timely information is available to executive management and policy officials. Can be called upon to issue, maintain, and control final planning documents and their amendments. Assists in the development of office briefing materials, internal and external agency communications, and policy recommendations. Under the supervision of office leadership, is responsible for providing oversight and coordinating the identification, analysis, and issuance of policies with managers and agency executives. Determines the applicability and effect of new or proposed legislation, executive orders, DHS directives, and other department decisions on requirements. Prepares comments and impact statements and recommendations on these issuances for executive and managerial considerations.
