Aircraft Mechanic- Experimental - On the job Training
The Deltahawk Engines SkillBridge Aircraft Technician Program provides transitioning service members with hands-on training in aircraft maintenance, modification, and flight test support. Participants will work alongside experienced mechanics and engineers to support real-world airframe integration and engine installation programs. This program is designed to translate military aviation and mechanical experience into civilian aircraft maintenance and certification operations, with the potential for full-time employment upon completion.
Position OverviewThe SkillBridge Aircraft Technician Trainee will support aircraft maintenance, modification, and flight test activities under the supervision of certificated mechanics and engineering staff. This role provides practical, on-the-job training in experimental and certified aircraft environments, with exposure to engine integration, system troubleshooting, and documentation practices.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of aircraft systems including engine, airframe, electrical, and avionicsSupport installation and modification of aircraft systems for prototype and certification programsParticipate in pre-flight and post-flight inspections, including ground test supportLearn and apply proper documentation practices for maintenance and configuration controlWork closely with engineering teams to provide feedback on system installation and serviceabilityMaintain compliance with safety procedures and quality standards at all timesBasic QualificationsActive-duty service member eligible for the Department of Defense SkillBridge ProgramBackground in aviation maintenance, mechanical systems, or related military experienceStrong mechanical aptitude and attention to detailAbility to follow procedures and work in a team-oriented environmentBasic computer skills for documentation and data entryPreferred QualificationsMilitary aviation maintenance experience (fixed-wing or rotary)Experience in inspections, quality assurance, or maintenance documentationFamiliarity with technical manuals and schematicsHands-on experience with fabrication, wiring, or mechanical assembly
