Lead Systems Engineer
The Lead Systems Engineer provides technical leadership for the definition, architecture, integration, verification, and delivery of rugged military computing systems. This role translates customer and program needs into clear system requirements, manages scope and technical baselines, and guides multidisciplinary teams through design, analysis, integration, test, and problem resolution. The engineer leads requirements decomposition and traceability, architecture and trade studies, interface management, design reviews, system safety and risk analysis, and technical decision-making. The position also serves as a primary technical interface to customers and internal leadership, mentors engineering personnel, resolves ambiguous or cross-functional issues, and ensures disciplined systems engineering execution across the product lifecycle.

Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. Typically requires 7 to 10 years of systems engineering or technical leadership experience with a U.S. Department of Defense prime contractor, supplier, or comparable military electronics organization. Experience with requirements management, decomposition, allocation, traceability, interface definition, architecture development, integration, verification, and technical risk management is required. Proficiency with DOORS and experience with Cameo or other model-based systems engineering tools is preferred. Knowledge of rugged embedded computing, VPX, SOSA, hardware and software integration, system safety, FMEA, and customer technical reviews is highly desirable. Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills are required.
