COPT Defense Properties - Building Technician
The Building Technician is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment. The role involves performing repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspections to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with codes. The technician also responds to tenant requests, coordinates subcontractor work, and supports building security and emergency response needs while maintaining a high standard of building appearance and functionality.
• Perform comprehensive building operations tasks across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance systems, including routine service and advanced troubleshooting.• Execute preventative maintenance programs with accurate documentation, compliance with building codes, and readiness for audits.• Demonstrate strong safety awareness, applying OSHA standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and emergency response protocols confidently.• Operate and navigate Building Automation Systems (BAS) to monitor performance, optimize energy efficiency, and adjust for tenant comfort.• Communicate professionally with tenants and vendors, resolving requests with a customer service mindset and coordinating subcontractor work to meet quality expectations.• Demonstrate leadership readiness by assisting in mentoring peers, managing small-scale vendor interactions, and preparing for future supervisory responsibilities.• Work independently with accountability, proven through a mock shift, midpoint evaluation, and capstone assessment.• Transition into an entry-level Building Technician role with career advancement pathways
