Program summary

The Basic Electrical Technician SkillBridge program prepares transitioning service members for entry-level electrical and maintenance roles in residential, commercial, and light industrial environments. Participants develop foundational knowledge in electrical theory, safety practices, wiring methods, blueprint reading, and basic troubleshooting. This program emphasizes hands-on skill development aligned with industry standards and provides a pathway into the skilled trades workforce or advanced electrical training programs.

Roles & job description

As a Basic Electrical Technician, graduates may assist licensed electricians or maintenance teams with installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and components. Typical duties include pulling and terminating wire, installing electrical devices and fixtures, reading electrical diagrams, performing basic system testing, and adhering to safety and code requirements. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles such as electrical helper, maintenance electrician assistant, facilities maintenance technician, or electrical technician trainee.

Open to all MOS / ratings / AFSCs.
