Boiler Technician / Mechanic
This opportunity provides transitioning service members with hands-on training and classroom instruction in the service, maintenance, and controls of industrial boiler systems. The opportunity is structured to build foundational skills in both mechanical and electrical disciplines, with exposure to field service operations. Participants will learn from experienced technicians and receive direct mentorship while gaining experience in boiler start-up, combustion tuning, control panel wiring, pipefitting, and mechanical assembly. The program is designed to prepare candidates for full-time employment as a Boiler Controls Technician or Boilermaker Mechanic at Cleaver Brooks Sales & Service upon program completion.
Key Learning Areas:• Wiring and testing boiler controls and auxiliary systems using engineering schematics.• Performing start-up and commissioning of rental and permanent boiler systems.• Installing, troubleshooting, and adjusting control components such as transmitters, valves, and regulators.• Assembling and trimming out watertube and firetube boilers.• Learning safe and effective pipefitting techniques as part of the mechanical scope.• Understanding fuel trains, combustion systems, and boiler safety standards.• Reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs.• Participating in classroom-based instruction on electrical theory, boiler operation, troubleshooting, and safety.Qualifications:• Mechanical or electrical aptitude, ideally with military experience in maintenance, utilities, HVAC, or instrumentation.• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams.• Strong communication, teamwork, and safety awareness.• Valid driver’s license and eligible for travel to customer sites if assigned to field service.• Must successfully complete all pre-employment screening requirements, including background check and drug testing.
