Under supervision by an Advisor, Intern will perform a variety of tasks in the repair, maintenance and construction of Wastewater Treatment Plant facilities.

Roles & job description

Plant Maintenance Mechanic Interns perform a variety of tasks in the repair, maintenance and construction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant facilities while under supervision by a department advisor. Duties include, but are not limited to: Inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing machinery and equipment, including pumps, valves, motors, engines, compressors, and gear reducers. Assisting in the construction and maintenance of wastewater treatment plant systems, including booster pump stations and sewer lift stations. Maintaining comprehensive, accurate, and detailed logs in the City’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for all maintenance work planned, required, or completed, ensuring that equipment performance and assessment reports are useful and reliable. Operating and maintaining a variety of heavy tools and equipment, as well as small power tools and hand tools.
