Refuse Collections Truck Operator
The City of St. Peters Solid Waste Department is seeking a motivated refuse truck driver with ASL, Rear-Load, Front-Load, and Roll-Off truck experience. The starting pay range for post-service employment is $28.46-30.19 based on experience, with competitive salary growth beyond the starting pay through our market-based pay plan. Applicants must have at least a Class B CDL and recent experience operating solid waste collection equipment. We offer new trucks, Routeware-equipped routes, all automated collections, and benefits that are second to NONE. Key Responsibilities:- Perform skilled labor tasks related to the collection and handling of various waste materials.- Operate heavy equipment, power tools, and motorized equipment with advanced skill.- Conduct minor repairs and servicing of equipment; report major maintenance issues.- Assist in training new employees on safety protocols, equipment use, and work methods.- Address customer and resident inquiries, concerns, and complaints with professionalism.- Assemble, clean, deliver, and repair solid waste collection cans.- Operate ASL, Rear-Loader, Front-Loader, Knuckle-Boom Loader, and Roll-Off Trucks with proficiency.
Army: 88M – Motor Transport Operator (top match: commercial-style truck ops, hauling, safety procedures, routes) 91B – Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic (supports the mechanical/repair side) 12N – Horizontal Construction Engineer (heavy equipment experience) Marine Corps: 3531 – Motor Vehicle Operator (closest fit; a very strong match) 3521 – Organizational Automotive Mechanic Navy: EO – Equipment Operator (Seabees) (great for heavy equipment use) CM – Construction Mechanic (maintenance & repair experience) BM – Boatswain’s Mate (general deck equipment + manual operations; useful when paired with CDL training) Air Force / Space Force 2T1X1 – Vehicle Operations (excellent match; includes cargo movement and commercial-style vehicle operation) 2T3X1 – Vehicle Maintenance Coast Guard BM – Boatswain’s Mate (again, manual operations + equipment) MK – Machinery Technician
Minimum Requirements:- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.- High School graduate or GED certificate.- One (1) year of applicable experience.- Class "B" CDL with air brakes valid in the state of Missouri, or obtained within 120 days of employment.Commercial driver instruction permit (CDIP) must be obtained within 60 days of employment.- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 lbs.
