This highly skilled engineering position is responsible for performing difficult and complex engineering assignments associated with planning and designing various projects and studies needed to support electric power facilities. Work is under the general supervision of an administration supervisor. Tasks allow independent judgment and action in planning work details and making technical decisions. A supervisor reviews the work performed.
This position includes the following essential actions:Prepares the scope of work for a given project or study, which may require data gathering, specifications, plans, diagrams, schematics, equipment/materials, and cost estimates for the required aspects. Oversees, completes, or assists in all aspects of assigned engineering project design or study. Provides project management and quality control functions for work done by parties associated with the project or study. Assists various departments within the organization on energy production. Studies and/or implements significant modifications or improvements to the electric power system. Assists in coordination with Plant Engineering, Plant Maintenance, Plant Operations, System Control, Substations, Relay department and contractors.
Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering AND Five years of experience in electrical utility engineering work ORMaster of Science degree in Engineering AND Three years of experience in electric utility engineering workEngineering degree must be in one of the following disciplines: Energy Production, Electrical, Mechanical, Process, Chemical, or Controls
