Bowhead is offering a SkillBridge opportunity for transitioning service members interested in hands-on machining, fabrication, and test support. This role supports the Army Research Laboratory at Aberdeen Proving Ground.This internship is designed to provide practical experience in machining, mechanical fabrication, and test operations in a research and development environment. Interns will receive structured guidance while building technical skills applicable to careers in manufacturing, engineering support, and defense contracting.

As a SkillBridge Machinist Intern, you will gain experience across machining, testing, and engineering support functions, including:-Execute test plans by following detailed technical instructions and standard operating procedures-Prepare test materials, operate equipment, and record data during ballistic and mechanical testing-Assist in the design and fabrication of prototype fixtures, tools, and mechanical components-Interpret and review engineering drawings to support fabrication and testing activities-Support data collection and basic analysis from instrumentation used in experiments-Troubleshoot equipment issues and assist with maintenance and repairs-Learn safe handling procedures for ammunition and work toward Ammo Handler certification-Maintain clean, organized, and mission-ready work spaces-Support facility setup and modifications for specialized testing projectsWhat You BringThis opportunity is ideal for service members with mechanical aptitude or experience in maintenance, fabrication, or technical fields.Basic Qualifications:-High School diploma or equivalent-Familiarity with CAD software or technical drawing interpretation-Experience or exposure to machining tools (lathe, mill, drill press) or mechanical systems-Understanding of precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and tolerances-Basic math and computer skills (including Microsoft Excel)-Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn-Ability to work independently and in a team environmentPhysical Requirements-Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly-Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periodsSecurity ClearanceMust be eligible to maintain a Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
