Highway Construction Workforce Partnership - Job Training Program
Offered in partnership with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, the 6-week Highway Construction Workforce Partnership prepares participants for a high-wage, high-demand careers in highway construction with annual income in the $40,000 range before overtime. With industry expected overtime of 350 hours available annually, participants can earn an annual income of over $50,000. Through the program, participants gain skills in jobsite safety, highway project traffic control, jobsite math, highway project plan reading, material specification understanding, highway project soils and aggregate construction, hot mix asphalt (HMA) production, HMA placement, HMA lab testing, HMA field testing, and heavy equipment operation.
Participants will have opportunities to obtain a wide range of jobs including:• Asphalt Raker• Asphalt Paving Machine Operator• Broom or Sweeper Operator• Front End Loader, 3 CY or Less Operator• Front End Loader, 3 CY or more Operator• Loader/Backhoe/Skid-Steer Operator• Roller, Asphalt Operator• HMA laboratory technician• HMA field technician
Program tuition is $8500 which may be covered by scholarships.
