Program summary

We are seeking a motivated entry-level low volt/Cat5 wire technician and smart home programmer to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience and low-voltage wiring installations and smart home technology integrations.

Roles & job description

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Low-voltage wiring installation: Assist in the installation and termination of Cat 5/Cat6 cables for data, voice, and video distribution. Learn to mount and wire low-voltage equipment, such as routers, switches and access points. Smart Home Device installation: Support the installation of smart home devices, including lighting, controls, security cameras, and smart thermostats. Assist in configuring and connecting devices to create integrated, smart home systems. Programming and configuration: learn to program and troubleshoot Smart home automation systems using provided software and tools. Assist in setting up automation routines and schedules based on client preferences. Technical support and troubleshooting: provide basic technical support to clients and troubleshoot, low-voltage and smart home system issues. Assist in diagnosing, and resolving connectivity and functionality problems. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of installation, configurations, and service activities. Prepare reports and documentation as required by supervisors.

Eligibility notes

Some coursework or vocational training and electrical systems, low-voltage wiring or related fields is a plus. Technical skills: Basic understanding of low-voltage wiring principles and techniques. Familiarity with Cat5/Cat6 capability and terminations is a plus. Knowledge: Basic knowledge of smart home, technologies and devices. Physical ability: Ability to lift and carry equipment, work in various environments (indoor and outdoor), and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity. Communication skills: Clear, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to follow instructions and interact professionally with team members and clients. Drive and Initiative: Eagerness to learn and grow within the role. Willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities. Certifications: While not required, certifications and low-voltage wiring, OSHA safety training or basic electrical certifications are advantageous.
