Program summary

Associated Training Services (ATS) is a private education and training school offering entry level training programs for heavy equipment operators, crane operators, riggers, signalpersons, and Class-A CDL truck drivers. ATS’s heavy equipment programs include equipment such as wheel loaders, backhoes, bulldozers, excavators, scrapers, motor graders and skid steers. ATS’s crane programs include telescopic boom cranes, lattice boom cranes, tower cranes, articulated boom cranes and digger derricks. ATS’s crane programs help students get certified through the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO).

Roles & job description

The crane operator will transport large or heavy objects using a crane, usually on building sites or in shipyards. Their duties include inspecting crane equipment, ensuring that safety protocols are followed, operating a crane using pedals or levers, and moving objects and materials from one location to another.Crane operator duties and responsibilities: Key responsibilities for crane operators include operating cranes to move heavy materials safely, coordinating with ground crews and following strict safety procedures to prevent accidents. Crane operators also inspect and maintain equipment, interpret lift plans and comply with site and regulatory requirements to support safe, efficient project delivery.A crane operator’s duties and responsibilities usually comprise the following: A. Operate a crane to lift and move objects B. Inspect crane equipment and carry out some maintenance C. Place plates under the crane’s outrigger pads for stability D. Move the crane into the correct position and attach and secure loads using the correct equipment F. Follow directions from colleagues on the ground for lowering and placing loads in the correct location.
