Becoming a Loan Officer allows you to help individuals and families achieve one of the most important milestones in life—homeownership. Your ability to build trust, solve problems, and guide people through important decisions makes you uniquely qualified for this role.As a Loan Officer, you will assist families, veterans, and first-time homebuyers in securing the financing they need to purchase or refinance their homes. Many of the clients you serve will be fellow service members and veterans, making your experience and understanding invaluable.What You'll Do:Educate clients on home loan options, including VA loans and other financing programsGuide borrowers through the mortgage application and approval processBuild relationships with real estate agents, builders, and community partnersHelp veterans and families achieve financial stability through homeownershipMaintain high ethical and professional standards

Roles & job description

The Loan Officer is responsible for helping individuals and families secure home financing by building relationships with clients, real estate professionals, and referral partners. In this role, you will guide borrowers through the entire mortgage process—from the initial consultation and loan application to approval and closing—while clearly explaining loan options, including VA loans, and ensuring compliance with lending regulations. Success in this position comes from strong communication, problem-solving, and the ability to deliver an excellent customer experience while meeting production goals.

Eligibility notes

Candidates must be located in or be willing to travel to San Antonio for the duration of the Training. Complete the 20 hour SAFE pre-licensing course (paid for by Alta Home Lending)- Pass the federal NMLS licensing test (paid for by Alta Home Lending)- Complete the Texas state pre-licensing course (paid for by Alta Home Lending)- Complete a background check (required for licensing and to access Acrisure Systems, paid for by Alta Home Lending)
