Alaska Beauty Peony Cooperative
Join us to gain the skills, knowledge and abilities to seek self-employment in the agricultural industry or to lay foundation for further pursuit of formal instruction in agriculture in preparation for a career in agricultural education or extension work. Our main product line is peonies. All participants will learn farm safety, agribusiness planning, and horticulture. Skills are transferrable to other farm product lines.
You will gain experience in commercial cut flower production from boots on the ground at several farms to the central packhouse, plus value-added product development, marketing and sales, and customer relations.
Open to all MOS / ratings / AFSCs.
Ability to lift 40 lbs. Work outdoors rain or shine on uneven surfaces. Appropriate gear for work on the farm (supportive shoes, sun hat) and at the packhouse (warm jacket, gloves, beanie) are recommended.
