This internship consists of three areas of focus within the Wildlife Center: Nonprofit Management, Education & Outreach, and avian rehabilitation. Interns will get experience working with glove-trained and stationary birds of prey, caring for injured and orphaned songbirds, waterfowl, and raptors, and learning various aspects of how to run and operate a nonprofit organization.
Duties: - Assist the Director of Education on all AWC Education Department duties, including but not limited to avian husbandry, public programs, outreach & education, and maintenance.- Clean, sanitize, and reset bird enclosures. - Perform basic maintenance of aviaries. - Preparing daily meals for 20+ birds of prey.- Assist with the care of injured patients. - Work closely with glove-trained raptors.- Lead public programs and educational events.- Perform administrative duties as needed.- Assist other departments as needed- Other job-related duties may be assigned.
