Program summary

The Machinist is a non-technical degree role which: Provides a high level of quality, technical experience, and machining experience. Set ups and operates conventional, special purpose and CNC machines. Develops specifications and produces parts. Works under the observation and guidance of a qualified Machinist or Supervisor.

Roles & job description

- Set up, operation of conventional, special purpose and CNC- Identify and set up required tooling jobs- Cost awareness- Calculate precise measurements and set controls for accuracy- Develop specifications and produce parts- Read, maintain and calibrate precision measuring tools- Inventory management / budget cost- Discuss repair order problems with Field Representatives and Customers to determine work order repairs
