A Wastewater Treatment Plant Design Engineer is responsible for creating, planning, and overseeing the design of wastewater treatment facilities. This includes determining the most efficient layout of tanks (such as aeration tanks and clarifiers), selecting and sizing pumps and blowers, and specifying Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for process control and energy efficiency. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams—civil, electrical, and mechanical engineers—to ensure proper instrumentation and control systems are integrated. The engineer also performs hydraulic and process modeling, ensures compliance with local regulations and standards, and reviews submittals for construction to ensure design integrity.
