Glazing Technician and Field Installation Leadership Program 61-90 days - Apprenticeship
This 12-week SkillBridge training program provides transitioning service members with hands-on experience in the glass and glazing trade, with a focus on residential and light commercial glass repair and replacement. The program combines shop-based instruction and field training to develop core competencies in glass handling, cutting, frame disassembly, and installation support.Trainees will progress from foundational shop skills to real-world jobsite experience, working alongside licensed glaziers to assist with diagnosing damage, preparing replacement glass, and completing repair work safely and efficiently. Emphasis is placed on safety, precision, work quality, and professional conduct.By the end of the program, trainees will be prepared to transition into an entry-level Glazing Technician role with the potential for continued development into a Service Lead position.
The Glazing Technician and Field Installation Leadership Program is a 12-week SkillBridge training opportunity designed to prepare transitioning service members for a career in glass repair and field service operations. Participants will work under the supervision of experienced glaziers to support residential and light commercial glass repair and replacement projects.The trainee will assist with day-to-day shop and field operations, including glass cutting and preparation, loading and transporting materials, and jobsite setup and cleanup. Responsibilities also include supporting technicians with frame disassembly, removal of broken or damaged glass, measuring for replacement glass, and applying sealants during repair and installation tasks.In the field, the trainee will work alongside technicians on active service calls, learning to identify issues, follow repair procedures, and maintain safe and efficient jobsite operations. The role requires consistent attention to safety, accuracy, and quality of work.As experience is gained, the trainee will begin supporting basic service lead functions, including jobsite organization, customer interaction, and assisting with coordination of daily work activities.This is a hands-on, physically active role that requires the use of tools, lifting and handling glass materials, and working in both shop and field environments. Successful participants will complete the program with the skills necessary to transition into a Glazing Technician position and continue progressing toward a Service Lead role responsible for managing service calls and leading small crews.
Preferred backgrounds include construction, mechanical, maintenance, or other hands-on technical military roles. Experience working with tools, equipment, or in field environments is strongly preferred but not required.
Ability to reside in South Florida for the duration of the SkillBridge program.
There is no cost to participate in the program. Trainees are expected to provide basic hand tools commonly used in mechanical or construction environments.
